O God, from whom all good proceeds: grant that by your inspiration we may think those things that are right, and by your merciful guiding may do them;
Silence
We praise you, for we know it is through you all blessings flow. For the good in our lives that touches us daily, for those relationships we cherish, for the seasonable days we enjoy, for the release and relaxation summer provides; for all the daily reminders of your blessings, we give you thanks this day.
But too often, God, we confess that it’s not those little blessings, but the little annoyances that drive and inspire our days. The challenging relationships, the lines that take too long, the wrong drive-thru orders, the bad drivers; these are the things that cloud our vision of our days and leave us grumpy rather than grateful.
Holy God, change our vision. By your inspiration, grant us sight of those things that you bless us with, such that they outnumber our irritations and annoyances, such that they become the way we see the world.
For we know that, the more we see you in the world, the more we reflect you into the world. By your merciful guidance, we are your vessels for others to know your blessings. We are, like your son Abraham, blessed to be a blessing.
Amen.
