Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. The crispness that’s often in the air, the warmth of family, the feasting, and the chance to mark a year’s worth of blessings all make this holiday one worth noting.

That’s why we’ll be marking Thanksgiving in our worship services on November 12 and 19 and have a church-wide Thanksgiving dinner on November 15. Even as stores stock the shelves with Christmas decorations, and even as TV and radio fill with ads for Christmas shopping, we’ll pause to note this important holiday.

At worship, instead of the Apostle’s Creed, we’ll be using a Psalm of Thanksgiving to offer praise to God. The Gloria is the first verse of Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing. These two changes are noticeable because we say the Apostle’s Creed and sing the Gloria Patri just about every week, and so the changes help us mark the season. Sermons for these two Sundays will focus on this joyous season.
