Beginning Tuesday, August 29, our church will feature a prayer chapel; a special space set aside for personal and small group prayer.

The prayer chapel is located just off the narthex in the former Alathea classroom. It will feature the paraments, cross, and candles from Friendship UMC on an altar table, surrounded by decorations and items meant to inspire prayer.

The chapel and the narthex will be open during to be determined hours for use as a space to pray individually or in small groups. The Uplifters will meet there Tuesdays at 10:30 and the prayer group for the future of the church Wednesdays at 5pm. The prayer chapel is otherwise open for use. If you would like to schedule a time for a small group, please contact the church office at 478-374-4327 or eastmanfumc@bellsouth.net to reserve the space.

In between now and then, you may see some furniture moved around, some signs of construction like paint, or other signs that a room is being renovated. The trustees and worship committee and I are hard at work on this room, ensuring that it becomes a sacred space for the church as we focus in on prayer as a congregation.

Come to the prayer chapel as often as you can, knowing that God hears our prayers and acts on our behalf. Come and find the peace your soul needs from the frantic pace of our days. Come to find your heart filled with peace.
